Canada Massage Therapy Requirements
Canada does not have a national massage therapy board. Each province has individual rules and regulations regarding the practice of massage therapy. PLEASE NOTE: We provide the below information about your province as a courtesy but cannot guarantee its accuracy because laws are continually subject to change. If you have questions about the information we have provided below, please contact your licensing agency directly. Your governing board will hold you ultimately responsible for knowing the laws that apply to you. We do not deviate from our posted return and exchange policy if you later determine that a course you enrolled in is not valid for CEs in your jurisdiction.
For Canada massage therapists who also have a license to practice in the United States, please refer to our state laws page for details on US course approvals. Institute of Somatic Therapy is approved by the NCBTMB as a continuing education approved provider (#280672).
Alberta has three different associations, all of which have their own individual criteria. It is up to each individual member to determine what the CE requirements are for your membership. Based on our research, we provide the following information as a courtesy. Please confirm this information with your association before taking any of our courses for your CE requirements.
- NHPC does not preapprove courses. As such, all of our courses that fall within the scope of your membership should be valid for your continuing education needs.
- RMTA limits online continuing education courses. Due to these limitiations, we have not sought approval for any courses with this board. It is up to each individual member to determine whether or not they will accept our courses for your continuing education needs.
- MTAA allows online continuing education courses for all of your CE needs. We have not yet made application to them for our courses to be approved. If you are a member of MTAA and would like to take our courses, please contact us.
